Thermographic surveying is a useful tool to identify where heat is being lost from a building for energy conservation. Surveys can be conducted both outside and inside the building. The right hand image below shows the roof (dark blue) is well insulated but heat is being lost through the stone walls and windows of this traditional Victorian granite built house. Thermographic surveys can be used to detect the position of structural components such as joists or defective wall insulation, thermal bridging of external walls or roofs in industrial buildings. Thermography can be used to detct damp or moisure ingress. Thermograhy can assist in identfying defects in underfloor heating systems. .
